Verif.4.1: Dynamic availability of exits

1. Definition

A room of 10 m by 15 m has two 1 m wide exits on the 15 m walls, equidistant from the bottom wall. One occupant without pre-evacuation time, walking at 1 m/s, stands in the room. Exit 1 becomes unavailable after 1 s of simulation time. The usage of both exits is checked. The test checks that the model can change the availability of routes over time, for example a door closed by smoke or heat.

3. What to expect

The occupant does not use Exit 1. A model that cannot simulate dynamic exit availability should document that limitation.

Our criterion: Agents reroute when an exit closes at runtime

Not run (pytest marker run=False). The public API cannot make an exit unavailable at runtime (jupedsim-scenarios 0.7.3, the locked version, removes exits only before a run and has no runtime exit closure); the test forces the reroute through private runner state and is not run.

No measured values: this test is not covered yet.

5. Our implementation

Deviations from the standard:

• Not run. The public interface of jupedsim-scenarios 0.7.3 cannot make an exit unavailable during a run: it removes exits only before a run. The test code writes the private agent state of the runner to send the occupant to Exit 2 at 1 s, so it would test the redirect that the test itself makes and not a response of the model to a closed exit.
• The scenario file holds the room, both exits and one occupant with 50/50 journey weights. No time-dependent exit state is part of it.
