Test 18: Reduced visibility vs walking speed
PENDING1. Definition
A corridor 2 m wide and 100 m long has a 1 m exit at its end. One occupant has a smoke-free walking speed of 1.25 m/s. A constant extinction coefficient of 1.0 per metre fills the corridor from the start, and no light sources are present. The occupant walks to the exit. The tester must know which speed-versus-visibility correlation the model uses and calculates the expected travel time by hand beforehand. The test is repeated with other combinations of smoke-free speed and extinction coefficient; ISO suggests speeds of 1.0, 0.75, 0.5 and 0.25 m/s and extinction coefficients of 10, 7.5, 3.0 and 0.5 per metre. Irritant and toxic effects are outside the test. A model without a visibility-speed sub-model documents the limitation.

2. Scenario
Scenario picture not available.
3. What to expect
The simulated travel time equals the hand-calculated time from the model’s own correlation, that is, it agrees with the model’s speed reduction factor.
Our criterion: Not implemented
ISO 20414 Table 20 lists this test; there is no test for it in this suite.
4. Our result
Status: PENDING
No measured values: this test is not covered yet.
5. Our implementation
Deviations from the standard:
- Not implemented: there is no test for it in this suite. JuPedSim has no built-in speed reduction by visibility.
Model: not available in this run
- No test function for this row.
6. Our notebook
No notebook for this test yet.
