IMO 7: Assignment of population demographics

IMO 7: Assignment of population demographics

PASS

1. Definition

A panel of males aged 30 to 50 is taken from Table 3.4, whose walking speed on flat terrain is a uniform distribution between 0.97 m/s and 1.62 m/s. The speeds are distributed over a population of 50 persons. The standard intends the assigned speeds to be consistent with the table.

2. Scenario

Scenario picture not available.

3. What to expect

The assigned speeds follow the uniform distribution of Table 3.4 (0.97 m/s to 1.62 m/s). IMO gives no statistical test or tolerance. This suite does not check the speeds: it checks only that all 50 agents leave the room within 25 s to 120 s.

Our criterion: All agents evacuate within [25 s, 120 s]

5. Our implementation

Deviations from the standard:

  • No speed distribution is assigned: all 50 agents have a constant desired speed of 1.2 m/s. The test does not read or check assigned speeds against Table 3.4.
  • The test checks only that all 50 agents leave a 40 m by 10 m room and that the evacuation time lies between 25 s and 120 s. This window is the suite’s own and is not in the standard.
  • Default body radius 0.15 m; one seed (42). The scenario is built in code (tests/vv/test_imo.py).
