IMO 5: Response duration

IMO 5: Response duration

PASS

1. Definition

Ten persons stand in a room of 8 m by 5 m with a 1 m exit at the centre of one 5 m wall. Their response durations are uniformly distributed between 10 s and 100 s. The test verifies that each person starts to move at the time assigned to that person.

2. Scenario

Scenario picture not available.

3. What to expect

Every person starts moving at the person’s own assigned response duration. IMO gives no tolerance. The wording “uniformly distributed in the range” can be read as random draws from a uniform distribution or as evenly spaced values.

Our criterion: Agents respect an assigned pre-movement distribution

5. Our implementation

Deviations from the standard:

  • The response durations are random draws from a uniform distribution on 10 s to 100 s (premovement seed 12345), the first reading of the wording. Evenly spaced values are not tested.
  • Each agent’s observed start is compared with its own assigned duration (decision D15). The scenario result does not expose the assignment, so the test assumes that agent ids ascend with spawn order and that the i-th id owns the i-th draw.
  • An agent starts moving at the first frame in which it is more than 0.05 m from its start position. The pass rule is the suite’s own: every start lies between 9.9 s and 101 s and within 0.5 s of the assigned value.
  • The exit is a 1 m by 1 m absorbing square inside the room against the left 5 m wall. The agents start in a block 2 m by 3 m near the opposite wall.
  • Constant desired speed 1.2 m/s, default body radius 0.15 m; one seed (42). The scenario is built in code (tests/vv/test_imo.py).
