IMO 10: Exit route allocation

IMO 10: Exit route allocation

PASS

1. Definition

A cabin corridor section has two rows of six cabins on either side of a corridor 0.9 m wide. The cabins are 3 m wide and 5 m deep (Fig. 4, p. 13). The population is 23 persons with instant response and Table 3.4 speeds: two persons per cabin and one person in cabin 3. A main exit, 1.2 m wide, leads out of the top row next to cabin 3. A secondary exit lies at the end of the corridor. The persons in cabins 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9 and 10 are allocated the main exit. All others are allocated the secondary exit.

3. What to expect

The allocated persons move to their allocated exits. IMO gives no numeric criterion.

Our criterion: Agents use assigned escape routes

5. Our implementation

Deviations from the standard:

  • The scenario is loaded from the RiMEA zip standards/rimea/scenario_files/Rimea-10.zip, not from an IMO-specific file. The same zip and the same check serve RiMEA Test 10 (TestRiMEA10 in tests/vv/test_rimea.py).
  • The population, the cabin occupancy (2 per cabin, 1 in cabin 3) and the allocation match the standard.
  • The cabins are about 3.8 m deep, not 5 m, and about 2.8 m to 2.9 m wide, with cabin 3 about 1.9 m wide. The corridor is 0.9 m wide. The gap in the wall for the main exit is 1.1 m, not 1.2 m.
  • All 23 agents have a constant desired speed of 1.3 m/s instead of Table 3.4 speeds.
  • The allocation is fixed by journey weights (the standard prescribes it). An agent counts as using its allocated exit when its last recorded position is nearer to that exit than to the other one. All agents must also evacuate. Default body radius 0.15 m; one seed (42).
